Youth into the world to share God's Love, God's Hope, God's Word.

Our youth ministry is open to all 6th-12th grade students.  You do not need to be a member of Chews UMC or any other church in order to participate in the activities we offer.  We provide several opportunities for fellowship, worship, discussion, study, and service.  Please join our FaceBook family @ "chews youth" to stay updated on weekly activities, upcoming events, and general information.

  • Teen Mid-Week  Join us each Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:30 for food, fellowship, and discussion of relavent issues facing the teen generation today.  Our gameroom which includes Playstation and Wii; fusball; ping-pong; and basketball opens at 6 PM each Wednesday evening for your enjoyment or you can go hang out in the teen room and play a board game or catch up with friends.  At 6:30 PM we share announcements, take role, and settle in with some fun activity to introduce the evenings topic.  In February our  featured topic is Depression/Suicide.  What are the signs, where can I go for help, what does God say about such things, and most importantly in the midst of struggle where is hope?  On Wed., 2/2 we will hold a special parent/teen workshop with guest speakers from Center For Family Services and free dinner @ 6 PM. Discussion is done small group style with q&a time as a whole group and prayer before breaking off for more socialization.

  • Sunday Night Fellowship  Each 1st Sunday of the month (excluding 3/6) join us from 6:30-8 PM for fun-filled activities including movie nights, waterwars, chess challenges, basketball tournaments, and Wii sing-off.  February's fellowship is a friendly game of crab soccer.  Teams of 4 will compete in a round robin style for the prize.  Bring 3 friends to form your own team or come solo and we will place you on a team.  If crab soccer is not your sport come and cheer on the teams in the stands.

  • Worship  Currently our youth/young adult worship which is normally held the 4th Sunday of each month @ 7 PM is under construction.  Please log on occasionally for updates.

  • Service  CHEWS Youth offers several opportunities to engage in service projects throughout the year.  currently each 1st Saturday of the month we travel to Camden for a community clean-up.  On Sunday, 2/27/11 we will participate in the IHOC Mall Walk @ Voorhees Towne Center to raise money and awareness for homelessness.  The last weekend of April we will participate in the 30 Hour Famine to raise awareness and money for global hunger.  John Wesley said, 'There is not holiness without social holiness".  CHEWS youth are very aware that as believers we must do our part and the experiences gained from service have helped to shape their lives and their character.

  • J.U.N.E. Project  This is our annual missions trip that we have participated in for decades.  Each summer we travel to Hamburg, PA to do urban mission ministry in the Reading area.  Our projects differ each year and have included fixing up houses, planting flowers, teaching VBS, volunteering in a daycare, and repair work for churches.  This year's trip is scheduled for Sun., 7/31-Sat., 8/6/11.  The cost is approximately $220.00 per student which includes food, transportation, lodging, and entertainment.  All students have the opportunity to lower the cost by participating in fundraisers throughout the year.  Sugn-ups have begun and space is limited so if you  are currently in 7th-12th grade and are interested please contact Cherese.

If you have any questions about any of the activities for our youth please contact Cherese at Cherese@chewsumc.com for more information.
